My "Work Out Routine"

Many people have been asking me what my "work out routine" is. I'm guessing this is because they want to be healthier and be fit, so I would feel guilty if I told them my work out routine and let them believe that working out is all you have to do to be fit. Becoming fit is a combination of a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, working out regularly, staying positive & motivated and drinking plenty of water. So lets get started with the basics.

To be healthy your body requires 8 hours of sleep. It provides energy for you to work out and stay motivated, plus you'll burn an average of 500 calories (just sleeping!). So I try going to bed at 10 P.M. and waking up around 6:30-7:00 A.M. giving me plenty of rest for the day.

Another basic need that many people don't understand is that a healthy diet is required to be healthy. I've had people come to me complaining that they work out daily but just can't lean down, so I'll ask what they eat and most of the time it's horrible food for your body. Many people know I have cut meat out of my diet, and I feel amazing. It's not to lose weight and to be skinny because there are body builders out there who are vegetarian; I cut it out because it's horrible for my body. I'm not forcing you, but I am recommending to cut back or cut it out entirely. You should try your best to avoid fast food and substitute it with whole food, I know it's really hard to not eat anything processed but you should aim for lightly processed foods rather than high. Depending if you're aiming to gain muscle or to lean down will be two entirely different diets. I'm not familiar with a muscle gaining diet, but I am with the leaning down diet. For breakfast I typically almost always cook 3/4 cup of oatmeal with a little more than a cup of water. I throw some frozen cranberries, cinnamon, vanilla extract and a little vanilla protein powder. Depending if I am hungry still I'll also eat an apple, banana or orange. What I find really helpful is making my breakfast the night before so I can have a stress free morning. For lunch I have a plain garden salad, hard boiled egg, side of vegetables and wheat bread. But dinner for me is always random, always. It depends on how hungry I am around six, whether I eat small or big. But I always pair whatever I make with a simple garden salad (just lettuce, spinach & light cheese.) I also have to avoid dairy because I'm sensitive to it, but I can still eat things that have milk in it but I try to use almond, soy and coconut milk in my smoothies and etc. http://cookieandkate.com/ is a great place to look for a whole food recipes and healthy meal(s).

Now another basic is water. Your body requires no other liquid than water, preferably 6-8 glasses of water daily. A simple way to break this down is to have two glasses of water with each meal of the day with a glass in between. If you want to spice up your water and add flavor you can add chia seeds, lemon, apple slices, cinnamon sticks, lemon balm leafs, blueberries and the list is endless. Cut out the energy drinks, pop and other sugary drinks. But I'm not saying smoothies, (unsweetened) tea or protein shakes are bad.

You will need to stay positive, motivated, have will power and committed to being healthy. Being healthy just doesn't happen out of the blue. It's a decision you will have to work on everyday and it will change your life. You can be inspired by many different ways, I often look up to some of my idols like Gigi Hadid.

She isn't just bones or covered with muscles, she is very lean and toned. She eats right and works out regularly making her perfect for me to look up to. Most girls today look at models on media who haven't eaten in days wearing little to nothing.

It broke my self confidence and self esteem and I know it is happening to other girls too. That is not healthy! It is normal and healthy to eat! If you don't eat three whole food meals everyday you'll start to miss out on nutrients that will in the end destroy your body. But don't go crazy with food either, make sure your balancing food with working out. A great video I try to watch to motivate me is by Prince Ea, it's perfect to listen to when getting ready in the morning to start my day.

Make sure you reward yourself and treat yourself to new work out clothes, a cheat meal or fun night. I've also learned that working out in a group or with a friend motivates me so much more, so have a workout date and stay committed. Find the right music that pumps up your energy and make a playlist. I love listening to Kygo, David Geutta, Sia, Zayn Malik and etc.

Now now my work out. I've tried all sorts of things, but I finally found what works best for me. Maybe this won't be perfect for you but this will work for the majority of girls looking to get lean. At school I take a "girl's only" work out class, and we do all sorts of stuff. Sometimes we will go in a cardio room and run with cardio exercise breaks, swimming, yoga, ride bikes, play sports and right now we are doing self defense classes. I am learning skills every girl should know to defend herself and I love the class. Then the first thing I do when I get home from school is run a mile with music. Then I'll do my exercise program through Alexa Jean Fitness http://alexa-jean-fitness.myshopify.com/. I have her ab, butt & legs and arm programs. During the week I'll do ab and butt & legs and I'll do arms on the weekend. So after my mile I'll do the ab program first. The program is five exercises that target your abs that you do for 45 seconds with 20 second breaks and you repeat the cycle three times. For this I'll use a timer on my computer or phone that is perfect for this, you can find it here https://www.timeanddate.com/timer/. Then I'll take a break and go into my butt and legs program. For this you count your reps rather than complete it in 45 seconds for the five exercises, but you still get 20 second breaks and stick with repeating the cycle three times. I have never seen as much progress as I have through any other program, plus it's very affordable. And you get Wednesday's and the weekend off. But if you still have energy and motivation I would recommend going for a short run and maybe completing a random set in abs, butt & legs or arm (which ever one isn't sore.)

That's it! I hope this helps and gets you inspired to get fit (before summer comes around the corner), Thanks For Reading!
